Project 3 Cameron Wold

So I started with a picture of one of my cups and I probably should have taken a different picture
because it was taken on glass and so light was reflected giving the cup an aura and than because
of the cameras settings it turned out blue. I wanted to have me and a few friends be inside the
cup so I had to use the pen tool to draw and cut out the front layer of the cup to place over
everyone making it seem like we were in the cup. I started with my pic and at first tried the color
range tool but I must say I do not like that tool in the least bit. It did not work well for any
pic except for one but I will get to that later. I just used the magic wand and quick selection
to crop myself out of that photo and also I messed with the angle and shape of myself so that I found
a good angle to make it look like I was resting on the handle of the cup. The 2nd pic was of my friend
Jessica and it was an extremely light pic so it ran into a few problems and with the use of pen and
quick select tool I was eventually able to get her body selected. To get her arms out I had to cut
and copy using the pen tool and just lay them over the front layer of the cup to give it a great
look. My next friend Sleezer with the long hair was simple and I just used quick selection to get him
out and scale him down to the same as everyone else. Same thing with my other friend Michael, quick
selection, copy it, and scale it to match. I just made a simple purple background because it matched
the aura of the cup so it did not look as awkward as on a black or white plane. After wards I started
on the text and with the exception of the word "Fun" I created each in its own layer so I could
turn each to the angle I wanted to get it to go around. Afterward I merged all those layers
together except for the Fun layer and I brought in a picture of multiple cups and tagged it to both
type layers to make the image show up behind it. Finally for my face on each corner it was a black
and white picture and this was the only picture that I had that the color range really worked well
on. So I just used it and copied it for each corner.

Because of this project I dislike the tool color range quite a bit and I do not think I will really
ever use it because I can almost never use it well without it giving lot of transparency to my
pictures. Only if the light difference between what you want and what you dont want is drastically
different does it work well. But in it's defense when it is able to work it does work very well, it
is just not that versatile. As for being able to tag text to another pic to have the image show up
through the text is a tool that is extremely easy and simple. So I could see myself using that more
often except the only negative is that the text becomes over bearing and kind of illegible so that
could become a big problem depending on what the situation is.

Also, aren't we suppose to use our own pictures? Because if we do not have to I could do a lot more.
